Determining Calorie Count for Weight Loss

Remember that the bottom line to weight loss is calories in vs calories burned. Determining caloric intake needed per day to lose weight is essential in losing those unwanted pounds.  First you must determine your BMR or basic metabolic rate. This number is how many calories your body burns at rest. A body analysis will give you this number. The BMR formula uses the variables of height, weight, age and gender to calculate its value. After determining your BMR you must then obtain you AMR or active metabolic rate. This is based on how active a lifestyle  you lead. I use five categories:

1) sedentary

2) lightly active

3) moderately active

4) very active

5) extremely active

Once we determine your activity level we can determine the number of calories you can ingest daily to lose weight. In order to lose 1 pound a week you must reduce your calorie count by 500 from your AMR. This will let you know how many calories you can have daily to achieve weight loss.
